Thank The Governor...It's Furlough Friday!
We've increased the workload on state employees and decreased the time they have to get it done.
Think that's bad?
Just wait until the first checks show up with a 10% reduction in pay. You thought that line at the DMV was slow before. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
"There's mass confusion," union President Yvonne Walker said, adding that many employees late Thursday didn't know if they should show up for work Friday because they were unsure if their workplace would be open...Tomorrow should certainly be an interesting day in the golden state.
At an Employment Development Department office in San Carlos, employees were told weeks ago to not show up for work Friday , said customer service representative Arlene Borg. But on Thursday, she said, managers reversed course and ordered the office to remain open...
Adding to the confusion: Schwarzenegger aides assert the furlough order extends to the staffs of the state's elected constitutional officers, such as those who work for the Attorney General or Secretary of State.
But constitutional officers are refusing to go along with the directive, saying they'll instead voluntarily cut their budgets.
