Trading IOU's

|

Posting ads to craigslist, collectors have already started seeking out California's IOU warrants. Now Wall Street wants in on the action.

FT.com
Wall Street, quick to spot an opportunity, is also gearing up to trade the payment promises.

“We have a whole team working on it,” said Barry Silbert, chief executive of SecondMarket, a company that trades illiquid assets such as bankruptcy claims, private company stock and toxic assets.

Mr Silbert said hedge funds, municipal bond investors and other institutions were interested. Trading volume will depend on how many IOUs the state issues and how long banks accept IOUs for deposit at face value.
Depending on how long this budget mess lasts, we could see a whole market of buying & selling IOU's pop up.

Nice to see that so many people are making money off of our states misery.

Furlough Friday 3x and IOU's

|

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed an executive order mandating state employees to an additional Furlough Friday, bringing the new total to three unpaid days off.

The executive order signed by Schwarzenegger will reinstate "Furlough Fridays," requiring more than 200,000 state workers to take unpaid leaves on the first three Fridays of each month.

The move amounts to an additional 4.62 percent pay cut for state workers, bringing their total reduction in 2009 to about 14 percent because of two furlough days imposed previously.

With a $26 billion dollar shortfall, I don't see how that really solves our problems, but as if state workers getting the shaft once again isn't enough...

State Controller John Chiang has said he will begin issuing IOUs Thursday to vendors who do business with the state, local government, and people who are owed tax refunds.

So not only are the state employees getting screwed...Due to Arnold's absolute inability to lead, anybody that does business with the state is S.O.L. as well.

Good times.

#CA10 : Online Organization

|

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

That is the day that Ellen Tauscher announced that she would be accepting the job as Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security. For all intents & purposes, that is also the day the campaign for California’s 10th district got under way.

First there was Adriel Hampton, and then Mark DeSaulnier, soon after Joan Buchanan jumped into the fray, and then Anthony Woods, and most recently, after abandoning his flailing gubernatorial campaign, John Garmendi decided he would run in the 10th as well.

So how are their respective campaigns going so far?

Adriel Hampton has been out on nights and weekends shaking hands with the locals in Walnut Creek, Livermore & elsewhere. I’ve run into him at both the Netroots Nation New Media summit and the CDP State Convention, handing out pens & literature. He’s got up a few websites to spread his message, and has his facebook site, as well as a weekly radio show on blogtalk radio. When it comes to Twitter, Adriel is the reigning king, often posting dozens of messages in a day.

When it comes to campaign websites, Anthony Woods’ team clearly understands the importance of an online presence. Woods has one of the slickest sites I’ve seen for any campaign, let alone amongst those in the 10th CD. While he has set up his Twitter account and sent out a few tweets, the clear focus has been on Facebook & ActBlue. In less than a week’s time, Anthony has been able to accumulate over 1500 supporters and has already collected $15,000 dollars. He’s also been spreading his message through my.barackobama. Pretty impressive, especially when you consider the fact that he spent the last week on the road, driving cross-country from the East Coast.

I’m not sure where he stands in the money game as he transitions from his gubernatorial run, but even John Garamendi really seems to be getting it when it comes to online operations. While his current campaign website may still be a bit disjointed between his current position as Lt Gov, a run for Governor, and his campaign for Congress, he is clearly filling in the gaps elsewhere. Garamendi makes a habit of posting a couple tweets through the day and has taken to personally thanking individuals that join his facebook group or add him as a friend. It’s a classy touch. Garamendi has also been posting diaries on various issues at Calitics & DailyKos and has taken to posting his campaign videos to YouTube. He also just released a poll which has gotten some play, showing that his name recognition & favorability ratings make him a clear frontrunner.

Joan Buchanan was the first to put out polling that showed her with a marginal lead over DeSaulnier in the district. She hasn’t really taken the jump into the online game yet, although she has set up a place holder website for her congressional run, and started a facebook group. Her ActBlue page is nicely integrated into her website and she’s already managed to collect over $5000 dollars. I get the impression that her campaign is doing a lot of preparatory work behind the scenes before she makes her big push.

That leaves us with Mark DeSaulnier…

I’m not exactly sure what the hell these folks are up too. Before Garamendi entered the race, DeSaulnier had locked up the endorsements of the democratic establishment as well as grabbing the endorsements of local labor, making him the early favorite. That was weeks ago and since then they seem content to rest on those laurels. Endorsements are nice and all, but they don’t really mean squat if the candidate isn’t getting his message out, and as of yet, the DeSaulnier camp is clearly not getting it. They have a Twitter account, but the problem is that they aren’t using it, and they wouldn’t even be that far along had Adriel Hampton not taken it upon himself to register the thing. They may want to think about reclaiming their name and getting to it. There is a Facebook group, but there isn’t really a whole lot going on there, and whoever is in charge of setting up the Facebook events has the problem of setting up meetings that look like they’re ongoing through the month, rather than taking place on a specific evening, which has led to some confusion. The DeSaulnier camp does have a basic website, but once again, the focus seems to be on endorsements, less on outreach. Even the ActBlue page isn’t very well integrated, and has only managed to bring in about $1000 dollars. Why they didn’t just make some simple edits to DeSaulniers regular website, until they could roll out something better rounded is beyond me. Last week the DeSaulnier campaign held three major kick-off events, but you wouldn’t know it, unless you happened to be there. Nevermind the traditional media, there is absolutely no presence in the blogs. Like a tree falling in the woods, there hasn’t been a peep about them. After renting space & equipment and having food catered in, I’m guessing that was one expensive tree, which did nothing but to offer some warm fuzzies to folks who were already planning on supporting Mark in the first place. Between the three events, I understand they managed to come up with maybe a dozen people to do phonebanking, so they weren’t a total loss I guess. Certainly didn’t offer the splash they could have though. It’s been a month and a half since this campaign started and from my eyes they are no further along than the day they locked up their endorsements. DeSaulnier does realize he’s running for Congress here right? It’s kind of a big deal. Get it together man.

While I feel that all of the candidates could be using online social media tools more effectively, its nice to see that the majority of the candidates running in California’s 10th seem to get the importance of an online dialogue with their constituents. It’s disappointing that the two candidates that don’t seem to be getting it happen to be my local legislators. I’m especially frustrated to see Mark DeSaulnier, who is considered by many to be the local favorite, making no attempts at getting further involved with the online progressive community.

2/3: Adventure at the CDP Convention

|

Guest Post by Ellis Goldberg, President of the Tri-Valley Democratic Club.

A couple of months ago I realized that there was no apparent movement to undo the 2/3 rule that prevents the CA legislators from doing their job. Sally Sweetser & I wrote a resolution to present to the CDP at the convention. The resolution calls for a change to simple majority for BOTH budget and revenue legislation. We went through the proper procedure and several Democratic Clubs and the Contra Costa Central Committee passed the resolution telling the state party to endorse this position.

Five resolutions were submitted to the CDP Resolutions Committee concerning the 2/3 rule. We attended the Resolutions Committee meeting. They decided to condense the five into one, which unfortunately did not include the part about revenue. It is like being strangled by two hands but only trying to remove one of them. The accepted resolution was written by not yet elected Chair John Burton.

Before the meeting I spoke to several committee members asking for their support and was assured by the Chair that I would get a chance to speak at the committee meeting. The meeting started and only members of the committee were initially allowed to speak. There were a total of 119 resolutions many of which were condensed. All were put on a consent calendar to be voted on at once. In order for any of the 119 resolutions to be considered individually, debated and addressed by their authors, a member of the committee had to pull the resolution to be considered separately. None of the committee members pulled the resolution, which meant it would go to the convention floor as is. Voting on these resolution would take place Sunday afternoon at the end of the convention. The committee rules as posted on the CDP website say nothing about the pull procedure.

We later heard that delegates are allowed to pull resolutions from the floor and request amendments. Sally did that. Sally, Contra Costa County Party Chair Chuck Carpenter and I were prepared to make our case to the assembled convention. We waited impatiently as members of the legislature & delegates debated props 1A-1F and other resolutions. Then someone asked for a quorum call which unfortunately would have ended all voting at the convention since many delegates already left. Then that delegate rescinded the quorum call. I thanked him for doing that.

Then another delegate approached Sally and I asking to speak on our resolution, he wanted to say something about term limits. Sally told him that is off the topic. He threatened a quorum call. Sally read the name on his badge and said she would remember him. I spoke to Chuck who said to let the guy talk. The guy seemed satisfied.

Chuck realized that any delegate opposing the resolution could make a quorum call, that would kill the resolution altogether, so Chuck and Sally decided to rescind the pull and instead try to pass our resolution at the meet e-board meeting in June on the peninsula. Chuck went up to the stage and got Alex Rooker the new female Vice Chair to support our position at the e-board meeting. I was really stressed by then and had a toothache to boot. I had a root canal today.

It ain't over. Chuck offered me a seat on the CDP Resolutions Committee, I said "no thanks". Burton will name a new Resolutions Committee soon.

DraftGaramendi.com Hits Roll Call

|

Garamendi Shakes Up Calif. Special - Roll Call
But the plot thickens: Some Democratic activists are encouraging Garamendi to forgo the 10th district race and run instead in the nearby 3rd district, where Rep. Dan Lungren (R) barely cleared 50 percent in 2008 in a district that had been considered a GOP stronghold. Those assumptions were smashed when Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) each got 49 percent in the 3rd district in the presidential election; George W. Bush had won a 17-point victory there four years earlier.

Amid rumors that Lungren’s 2008 opponent, Bill Durston (D), doesn’t plan to run again, there is already a draftgaramendi.com Web site, as well as Facebook and Twitter pages urging the lieutenant governor to challenge Lungren. Andrew Stone, a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said D.C. Democrats are aware of the movement to draft Garamendi into the 3rd district race, but would not comment further, except to say, “That district is one that we’re really paying close attention to.”
In just a few days, we've already had over a hundred people join the Draft Garamendi movement. Now, all eyes are on the district. Before it really is too late, take this weekend to talk with your friends & fellow activists about what makes the most sense for progressives in the State of California.

Let John Garamendi know how you feel.

Draft Garamendi for CA-3

|

Over at BeyondChron, Paul Hogarth makes the case that John Garamendi is running in the wrong district.
On name recognition alone, Garamendi will be the front-runner in a crowded field – although State Senator Mark DeSaulnier has key endorsements that will make it competitive. But while running for Congress is a smart move for Garamendi, it would be far better for Democrats – and progressive politics – for him to run in District 3 against Republican incumbent Dan Lungren. Tauscher’s seat is safe for Democrats regardless of who runs in the special election, while Garamendi is probably one of the few candidates who can win District 3. He has deep roots in the 3rd District – which includes a large swath of the Sacramento suburbs, along with Garamendi’s native Calaveras County. It is traditionally a “red” district, but Barack Obama carried it last November – and Lungren came unexpectedly close to losing to an under-funded Democratic challenger.
While Paul may be a little harsher on Garamendi than I care for, the points he raises in the article are valid. I recommend reading the whole thing and then taking a minute to think about this. Does it really make sense for Garamendi to run in the 10th, as opposed to the 3rd?

If you come to the same conclusion that I and many other progressives activists in the state have...

CA-10: Joan Buchanan Enters Race

|

With John Garamendi's announcement yesterday, and the State Democratic Convention kicking off tomorrow, I had a feeling this announcement might be coming today.

She's has made it official...Joan Buchanan is entering the race for California's 10th Congressional District.Joan Buchanan For Congress
After consulting with hundreds of community leaders, voters, elected colleagues and activists across our region; after considering the extraordinary financial challenges facing the country; and after carefully evaluating where I can make the most significant contribution, I have decided that I will be a candidate for Congress in our district.
We now have 3 great Democratic candidates in the race for the 10th...not to mention the newcomers who have yet to had a chance to really prove themselves and tell their stories.

I had really hoped that the race for the 10th wouldn't come down to this...at the same time, I can't blame Joan Buchanan for running. This really is a possible once in a lifetime opportunity for her. I just fear things are going to get very ugly between people that I respect & admire, and am in no hurry to either watch or participate in the trainwreck.

But we're here now and all we can do is move forward.

I'm still hoping John Garamendi will reconsider, and run against Lungren in the 3rd. I really do think it's what's best for everybody...Garamendi included.

As for Joan Buchanan & Mark DeSaulnier...a decision to support one or the other is not going to be easy an easy one to make.

On a personal level...I really like Joan Buchanan. I also have a lot of respect for what she was able to accomplish in taking back the 15th for Dems. She's just so new in the legislature though, that there are a number of issues in which I have no idea where she stands...also, I do worry about who would replace her in the 15th.

Mark DeSaulnier on the other hand, I'm learning is a pretty great guy himself. Not only has he been involved at the local level on a number of issues for years, the impression that I get from everybody I meet with in the district, is that he is absolutely adored by his many supporters. The enthusiasm for DeSaulnier is infectious. He also has the support of the party & local labor groups behind him, which does count for something I suppose.

And then there is still Adriel Hampton to consider and the candidate that I am really interested to hear more from, Anthony Woods.

Joan Buchanan has it right...
This isn’t the Spring I expected!
I think we're all in that club right now.

www.draftgaramendi.com

In 2010, Democrats need a strong candidate to run in California’s 3rd Congressional District, which is rapidly trending Democratic. In 2006, Bill Durston ran against Republican Dan Lungren and lost by 21.5 percent. In 2008, Durston ran again. This time, he came within 5.5 percent of winning and kept Lungren’s vote total under 50%.

But Durston has decided not to run again. And with the DCCC targeting the district, we desperately need a candidate who can step in and finish the job that Bill Durston started.

John Garamendi is the absolute best person to lead the battle for California’s 3rd Congressional District. He has deep roots in the district – he was born and raised in Mokelumne Hill, owns a ranch there, and was elected by the voters in the district to serve in the California state legislature from 1974 to 1990.

Tell John Garamendi that you want him to run for Congress in the 3rd Congressional district against Dan Lungren in 2010.

Back in 2007, when John Garamendi addressed the Amador County Democrats, he discussed his longstanding relationship with the district:
Garamendi talked briefly about his time representing Amador, Calaveras and other rural counties in the State Assembly for two years and for fourteen years as a State Senator. He recalled that one of the first bills he introduced was about a water ditch in Amador Co. The local connection is “very important to those of us living in these rural areas” says Central Committee Vice Chair Randy Bayne. As evidence, he noted that every year hundreds of local residents take a trip out to the Touch the Earth Ranch in Mokelumne Hill for the Garamendi Basque Barbeque.
Garamendi will be holding his 32nd Annual Basque Barbeque in Calaveras County in a little over two weeks, reconnecting with the local folks who have supported him for decades. We’re asking him to step up once again to fight for Amador and Calaveras Counties by running for Congress in District 3.

Labor Nods, DeSaulnier Makes Rounds

|

Last Wednesday, Senator Mark DeSaulnier, the only candidate for California’s 10th to receive any public endorsements so far, wrapped up yet another important early one...that of the Contra Costa County Central Labor Council. Today the CCCCLC made it official.

This is in addition to endorsements by Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, Congressman George Miller, California Senate President Pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg, and State Assemblymember Tom Torlakson, as well as the Contra Costa Building Trades Council. Quite the impressive list.

After joining Assemblymember Joan Buchanan & Lt Gov. John Garamendi at last Thursday’s Contra Costa Central Committee meeting, Mark DeSaulnier took a few moments on Monday night to speak with the Tri-Valley Democratic Club.

It was the first time I had met the Senator and found him to be personable and forthright and actually kind of funny. It was clear that he wasn’t happy about any of the May 19 props though, and when a School Board member from Dublin asked for his take, Senator DeSaulnier focused primarily on 1C which would borrow 5 billion from the lottery. DeSaulnier’s concern, which he shared with the Board Member and retired teachers in the room, was that No on 1C would take away 5 billion from education on top of the already 8 billion that we are projected short. DeSaulnier being in the legislature, I can see where he’s coming from…personally though I’m voting No on everything. Well, except for 1B…I’ll probably vote Yes and hedge my bet.

DeSaulnier also went on to speak a bit about his possible run for Congress should Tauscher be confirmed. He spoke about some of his recent endorsements and how an election schedule might look. I did sense some concern in the room about the possible domino effect with Assembly & Senate districts...although most of that concern seemed to be in regards to the 15th and who might replace Joan Buchanan after all of the hard work they had all done to get her into the seat.

Of course the latest rumors of Garamendi's recent interest in serving California in DC came up too, but mostly just in regards to what district...most folks seemed under the impression that he lived in the 3rd. Understandable considering Garamendi’s background in the district. From the John Garamendi for Congress in CA-03 Facebook Group:
Lt. Gov. John Garamendi has deep roots in CA-03: he was born and raised in Mokelumne Hill, owns a ranch in Paloma, and served that community from 1974 to 1990, first as a member of the state assembly and then as its state senator. If there is a Democrat in California capable of knocking off Dan Lungren in 2010, it’s John Garamendi.
As far as I understand, Garamendi currently lives in Walnut Grove which sits right on the boundary line between the 3rd and the 10th. I don’t think it’d be fair to call him a carpetbagger in any district.

Remember when Garamendi was furiously campaigning for Bill Durston in CD3? Much of his urgency centered around how unacceptable it was that Dan Lungren continues to represent this district...at the time, Garamendi was on fire! With Durston recently signaling that he is not interested in another campaign, and the field all but clear, who better to take on Dan Lungren than John Garamendi? A full election cycle in front of us and with the DCCC already eyeing Lungren’s seat in the 3rd, progressives (local and otherwise) should see a real opportunity here.

As far as the 10th district goes though, it was nice to see the Mark DeSaulnier show up at a small little club meeting, and most of the folks in the room seemed pretty impressed with him. I had hoped that I would have had more time to speak with the Senator, but the featured speaker of the night happened to be going over the Israeli/Palestine conflict…things went a bit long.

We did get a moment though to speak about the local blogging scene and I was rather impressed at his scope of knowledge and his desire to combat right leaning frames online locally. Good ol’ Tip O’Neill came up when we both mentioned indeed that “All Politics was Local”

I hope to be hearing more from the Senator in the coming days and would really love to see him participate in one of Calitics Online Townhalls...as would I equally like to see all of the other candidates participate in the same…from any candidate or official in any district in California for that matter. These Online TownHalls are a great way to start a dialogue between local grassroots/netroots activists and their elected officials.

NRCC Robocalling McNerney

|

Well, The National Republican Congrtessional Committee doesn't have any better options. They just know that hey don't like McNerney.

Check your Caller ID...the robocalls are coming.

From Lisa V. at the Contra Costa Times
The National Republican Congressional Committee announced a robocall campaign in the district of Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.

It’s part of the NRCC”s plan to target 43 members they view as vulnerable in the 2010 election.

McNerney’s district is slated for robocalls while the NRCC intends to spend in other states more bucks on television and radio ads. (Click here to read The Hill’s Briefing Blog, which has a nice outline of the NRCC’s campaign.)

The automated calls criticize McNerney’s recent vote in favor of the federal budget and attempt to link him to the Republican’s arch nemesis, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
In other disticts the NRCC is running radio & television ads. McNerney though is only getting the much cheaper robocalls. As Lisa V continues...
none of this angst will amount to much if the Republicans don’t find a viable opponent in District 11. So far, the field of potential challengers remains curiously blank.
Curiously blank...

Kind of like the Republican Platform.

Bankrupt bay Area Malls

Ghost Malls coming to the Bay Area?

From Inside Bay Area
In the largest real estate bankruptcy ever, General Growth Properties filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11. The developer listed $29.5 billion in assets and debts of about $27.3 billion in the Chapter 11 filing

Southland Mall in Hayward, Newpark Mall in Newark, West Valley Mall in Tracy, Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco and Eastridge Mall in San Jose also filed for bankruptcy protection, along with dozens of other malls, court records show.

The company's malls will remain open and continue to operate during the court case, the developer said.

However, at some point, lenders could move at some point to foreclose on the mortgages for one or multiple malls and seize the retail buildings.
I used to live around the corner from Southland Mall. I couldn't even tell you how many quarters I fed into their Arcade in my youth.

My wife works down the street from Stonestown, and often heads over to their food court for lunch.

I wonder how much longer they'll be around?

Garamendi Running for Congress?

|

So I get a text message from a friend last night telling me, that DeSaulnier's people told him, that Garamendi is definitely hoppping out of the race for Governor to run for Congress in California's 10th. This morning, Capitol Weekly pretty much has it confirmed.
We hear that John Garamendi is getting ready to jump into the Congressional race against Mark DeSaulnier for Ellen Tauscher’s vacant, East Bay Congressional seat. Garamendi has name ID in a race that will likely feature low turn-out, and has to be seen as a front-runner (this from a column that has not seen a lick of polling in the race). So, let’s go to the dominos, shall we? Of course, it’s bad news for DeSaulnier and Joan Buchanan, who both wanted to run for the seat.
Wanted to run for the seat?

These Congressional seats don't just open themselves up everyday...I wouldn't count on either of them dropping out.

Busby vs Bilbray

Francine Busby will announce her candidacy for California's 50th Congressional Seat tomorrow.

Busby has run twice before, in 2004 and 2006, and although in she earned the most Dem votes in 2006, it just wasn't enough to match Brian Bilbray's record contributions.

With Obama taking the district 51% to 46.8%...times are changing in Southern California.

Hopefully the third time is a charm

LaJollaLight.com | Francine Busby to announce candidacy
Francine Busby will formally announce her candidacy for California's 50th Congressional District at a press conference to be held April 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Park in Encinitas, 95 N. Vulcan Avenue.

Busby says, "Voters called for change in 2008 when they elected Barack Obama. (Incumbent Congressman) Bilbray didn't heed the message. He played a reckless, cruel game of politics with the lives of struggling San Diegans when he voted no on Recovery and Reimbursement Act that would bring millions of federal stimulus dollars into our economy.

Daly 4 CDP Regional Director

From BeyondChron:
Supervisor Chris Daly has filed to run for Regional Director of the California Democratic Party – challenging long-time incumbent August Longo. In an e-mail sent to State Party delegates (who will pick the Regional Director on April 25th at the annual Convention in Sacramento), Daly stressed his credentials as a “community organizer,” and the need to build on the grass-roots success of Barack Obama. But Daly’s decision to run also comes after Longo cast the lone dissenting vote (albeit through a proxy) at a S.F. Democratic Central Committee meeting against an immigrant rights resolution.

No Pork For You

So it seems that the Tea Bagger agenda basically boils down to No Taxes & Less Government.

Well, I sure don't know what the hell they are whining about here in California.

Forbes recently reported that California isn't even in the Top 10 of highest taxed states...and the Sac Bee reports that we rank 49th in per-capita pork spending
California may have more clout than any other state on Capitol Hill, but the state's congressional delegation ranks poorly in delivering pork to its constituents. The state ranked 49th among the 51 states and the District of Columbia in the annual Congressional Pig Book, which was released Tuesday by Citizens Against Government Waste. California, with per-capita pork of $15.26, ranked 49th for the second consecutive year. Only Arizona and Georgia had lower ratings.

Just Say No on May 19th

|

The Calitics Editorial Board has released their Special Election endorsements. Just Say No.
Prop 1A - State Spending Cap. NO
"the increased revenues we would receive from Prop 1A are simply not worth the long-term damage to our government that this measure would create."

Prop 1B - Education Funding. Payment Plan. NO
"It is worth noting that Prop 1B would not provide a solution to the catastrophic financial crisis facing public education in this state, and would do little if anything to help the 26,000+ teachers who received a layoff notice last month keep their jobs in the fall."

Proposition 1C - Securitization of the lottery. NO
"The fact is that we have done this before and it failed...If we knew that we wouldn't just be back in the exact same situation 18 months from now, this might even be a reasonable idea to dig ourselves out of a very deep hole. As it is, we'd prefer to wait for something real."

Prop 1D - Diverts $600 Million from Prop 10 First Five funds to other childhood programs. - NO
"Rather than raiding First 5, we should have provided a sustainable revenue for the state. We should not abide by these budget gimmicks and ploys, and First 5 should not be their victim."

Prop 1E - Diverting Mental Health Services Funding - NO
"Mental health services are financially prudent spending. It saves money that will end up being spent elsewhere, whether for homeless services or prisons. Diverting this revenue is penny wise and pound foolish."

Prop 1F - Wasting Your Time. An Initiative. - NO
"not getting a raise in deficit years is not a sufficient incentive for anyone to actually do anything, nor is it really meaningful shared suffering."
The only I argument that I have, and which the Calitics Board acknowledge, is with Prop 1B.
If we were to vote strategically, we would vote No on 1A and Yes on 1B, but we leave that decision to you.
and that's exactly what I intend to do.

If 1A does end up passing...I want to be sure that I've hedged my bet.

Boxer vs DeYankovic

|

From Rick Orlov at The Sausage Factory
U,S. Sen. Baarbara Boxer reported on Monday that she has more than $4.6 million in her 2010 re-election campaign, with more than 30,000 indvidual donors.
The Boxer campaign will report $4,622,744 cash on hand, with contributions in the period of $887,483. The report covers contributions for the first quarter of 2009 that ended on March 31, the campaign announced.
More than 4,500 new donors gave to the 2010 campaign for the first time during this quarter. Ninety percent of donors to the Boxer campaign have given $100 or less.
"I am so excited about the early support I have received from so many grassroots supporters," said Boxer. "It is inspiring to know I have so many people standing by me."
Don't get to excited there Senator.

You've still got Chuck DeYankovic to contend with.
